Three films on transforming girls’ education through technology in Africa

"My little thing is to plant a tree", "My Queen" and "Firdous, Adelaide and Manal", were filmed in Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia to illustrate how technology can support education in Africa. The first  film won third prize for "Womens Rights" in the My Hero International Film Festival.

Thematic Kanga

Kanga is a colourful garment used throughout the African Great Lakes region. It is a piece of printed cotton fabric where the edges features a strip which contains a written message. This message is called the jina (literally 'name') of the kanga. Messages are often in the form of riddles or proverbs. To promote a capacity building project for local radios in 7 Sub-Saharian African countries, a thematic kanga was designed with the project branding. The result was that not only the radio staff but the community/audience using the kangas in a myriad of ways: sewing shirts and dresses, as posters in the studio, table cloth, etc.

E-learning Platform on Professional Media Production

The E-Learning Platform on Professional Media Production gathers a selection of filmed courses covering three fields of media production: photojournalism, feature writing and filmmaking. It is based on the Pan-African Workshop for Professional Media Production held in 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that brought together students from various African countries and renowned professionals of African descent from the Diaspora.

Open Educational Resources Logo

The new Open Educational Resources logo was a way of create a common identity for the global OER community of practitioners, projects and researchers. The design creates a common visual idea and allows for the name of the term ‘OER’ to be expressed in different languages. It was officially adopted in the World OER Congress at UNESCO's Headquarters in Paris. Since then, it has been translated in over 30 languages.
